Meet our newest coach!
We’re proud of the fantastic coaches that we recruit at BK’s and are so excited to welcome the amazing Laura to the BK’s Hoppers Crossing family!
She has a wealth of experience in the gymnastics world and is passionate about setting kids up for a lifetime of sporting success. Read on to find out more about our wonderful new coach!
What is your experience in the gymnastics world?
“The sport of gymnastics has definitely always been a big part of my life having participated both recreationally and competitively as a gymnast from a very young age. I’m still actively competing in both the Australian Levels Program and Masters programs this year.
What made you want to become a gymnastics coach?
“I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science/Nutrition double degree at Deakin University as well as also being a qualified Personal Trainer and Strength & Conditioning Coach. This is where my passion for gymnastics coaching originally began. I’m passionate about combining my experience as a gymnast with my knowledge in physical preparation, technique correction, programming, nutrition, life coaching strategies and rehabilitation. This will allow me to create all-round educated athletes regardless of their sport of choice.”
What do you love the most about gymnastics?
“I love that that there’s never an end to participation in the sport, there is always new skills to learn, new challenges to overcome and while it is not just a sport of physical development, it tests all aspects of the individual as a whole. Children, in particular go through many stages of development before and during their school years, and experience many opportunities to learn key life skills and am definitely looking forward to helping every child in my classes to explore all these areas of development while expressing their love for the sport of gymnastics through movement”.
Why should parents enroll their kids in gymnastics?
“Because Gymnastics not only teaches physical skills, but also life skills such as patience and persistence which makes it much more than just a ‘sport’. I believe every child should learn the skills that gymnastics teaches, to give them the best chance of leading a happy, healthy, active life!”
Any other hobbies?
“Some of the hobbies I also like to enjoy in my spare time include surfing, baking, road trips and spending time with friends, family and my new puppy”.
I am very excited to be part of the team and look forward to seeing you all in the gym soon!
Thanks Laura!
